Totalfinder show file size in status bar8/31/2023 With FC, I go into CONAN 1 and do the thing, hit Backspace and that CONAN 1 folder is highlighted. So, I have to page down to find CONAN 2, then enter it, do the change, get back up, then page down again. In PowerDesk, after I hit Backspace, it always goes right back up to the top line of the list. I press F4 on the TXT file, do the edit, save it and press Backspace to get back to the upper level. With PowerDesk, I page down until I get to the CONAN 1 folder, and press ENTER to drill down. I want to go into each folder and edit something in the README.TXT file. Say I have the following folders in the middle of a couple of hundred: I'm not talking about the new feature in v394, but the way it has functioned for a very long time in the first place. It just defaults to the top of the list with no folders selected, meaning you have to work your way back down the list until you reach where that group of folders is shown. When you drill down into a folder and then pop back up, FC actually highlights that folder you were just in. When I first started, the percentages were almost flip-flopped. The number is already in memory, it's just a matter of tweaking how it shows up.Īlready, there are so many things I can do with the recent Free Commander Beta versions that I cannot even come close to doing as efficiently in PowerDesk Pro 5, that I use FC probably 80-90% of the time now. It reminds me of how you can choose to show file sizes in Bytes or display them in KB. Even so, a simple refresh after a file operation should be pretty darn quick I would think. Unless the user actually changes the contents of the folder, there would be no need to recompute it constantly, I don't think. It is a number that has to be computed on the fly for Selected Objects, sure, but it should be very quick to total the space as you enter a folder and simply display that total statically. In this particular instance, it should be very easy to tack on to the status bar, I believe. Such features might be added in the totally new version. If the feature is easy to implement, it's added very quickly, many features I have requested via email or in the forum has ben added already - but some features are not easy to implement (in the current version). So basically, all you need to do is spend some time to set up a single folder as you like it, and then you can easily replicate the view across all other folders.Dreamer wrote:I'm not sure. Once you have the folder view set up exactly how you like it, go to Organize / Folder and search options / View tab and click on the Apply to Folders button:Ĭlick Yes when prompted and this will make all folders that use the General Items template look exactly the same. Then switch to the view you prefer (for example, Small icons), right-click in the folder / Sort by / Date modified, right-click / Group by (if required) etc. Now switch to the Details view and add the columns you'd like to sort by (for example, Date modified) You can also select the Also apply this template to all subfolders checkbox (purpose should be obvious). Right-click the folder / Properties / Customize tab and select the folder template (for example, General Items): Why can't you add it (the Date modified column) in Details view? You only need to do this once, and then it will persist.
